Only one challenge this weekend

Following the theme from last weekend's challenges, I used the "Watercolour Wings" stamp set from the Stampin Up 2015-16 Annual Catalogue

The challenge this weekend came from SU-per-challenges: Colour Challenge #101

This time I made a box using the Bakers Box Thinlits. The butterflies were stamped and cut out using the Butterfly Thinlits and then attached to the box. The box background was made with Versamark. The large butterfly tag was cut out using the Bold Butterfly Thinlits.

Check out the great examples the designers have put together on the site to help with inspiration.

Challenges for this Weekend - Card 3

My last card for this weekend used challenges from 2 sites:

CAS Colours & Sketches - Colour Challenge #138

i Love Card Sketches - Sketch Challenge #42

This weekend I am using the "Watercolour Wings" stamp set from the Stampin Up 2015-16 Annual CatalogueThis stamp set matches also with the Butterfly thinlits to make it easier to cut out the small butterfly.

This card opens in the front (alongside the Always Artichoke card). The background was made using the three dots stamp in all three colours, stamped off to lighten the colour. The dots were then highlighted with Dazzling Details. The Always Artichoke card down the middle was embossed using the Modern Mosaic embossing folder. The fancy outline butterfly is from the Bold Butterfly framelits set.

Both these sites have great challenges and ideas to stimulate the imagination.

Challenges for this Weekend - Card 2

This next card used 3 challenges, and set the theme for my stamp set for the weekend:

Fab Friday - Colour challenge #71

Seize the Birthday - Anything that Flies theme

This weekend I am using the "Watercolour Wings" stamp set from the Stampin Up 2015-16 Annual Catalogue. This stamp set matches with the Bold Butterfly framelits to make it easier to cut out the big butterfly. The butterfly is stamped in 3 layers: first - Delightful Dijon (stamped off first), second - Delightful Dijon (Full colour), third - Tangelo Twist (Full colour).

The smaller butterflies are from "Butterfly Basics" and cut out with the "Bitty Butterfly" punch. The Old Olive card is embossed with the "Elegant Dots" embossing folder. The background uses the 3 dot stamp from "Watercolour Wings", stamped in each colour of the challenge (stamped off first to lighten the colour). The diagonal stripes are from "Butterfly Basics", stamped in Blackberry Bliss and Old Olive, once again stamped off first to lighten the colour.

A little bling was added to the card, with Dazzling Details used on the large butterfly and both smaller butterfly have 2 Rhinestones down the middle.

Challenges for this weekend - Card 1

The first card for this weekend used two different challenges - a Sketch and a colour combination, I have turned the sketch sideways.:

Pals Paper Arts - Sketch challenge #264

Stampin' Royalty - Colour Challenge #291

This weekend I am using the "Watercolour Wings" stamp set from the Stampin Up 2015-16 Annual Catalogue.

The butterfly was stamped onto the Very Vanilla card in three layers: first stamp in Hello Honey (stamped off first), second stamp in full strength Hello Honey and the third stamp in Blackberry Bliss. Once the butterfly was stamped I cut the piece into 2cm strips and trimmed 1cm off each end of the first and third strips. It was attached with dimensionals to lift it off the background.

The Crumb Cake background was first stamped with the greeting in Crumb Cake ink and then embossed with the Lovely Lace embossing Folder.

Check out the archives for both of these sites for some great inspiration, not just the colours and sketches, but also the wonderful ideas that the design teams have provided.

Friday Mashup Challenge

Only had time for one challenge card this weekend. The Friday Mashup #221 gave me both a theme and a colour combination to use.

The challenge was:
  • Create a project using shades of Dijon, Olive, Razzleberry
  • Create a project inspired by Summer Flowers
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Summer Flowers Project using the colors above.

The "Flower Patch" stamp set from the Stampin Up 2015-16 Annual Catalogue, seemed perfect for the theme of Summer Flowers. I has a matching framelit set to make cutting out the shapes easier.

The new "Brick" embossing folder created the background wall, and was accented with some sponging in Delightful Dijon.

I found the colours of Delightful Dijon, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry a bit strong and dark for the flowers, so stamped off first before using to get a muted version of the colours.

The greeting is from the new "Endless Birthday Wishes" set.

I always have fun with the Friday Mashup Challenges, check them out and the great samples the design team create.

Challenge card 3 for a relaxing Sunday Stamping

The final card for the weekend used a colour challenge from a site I regularly visit and a new site for the theme challenge.

The "Floral Wings" hostess only stamp set from the Stampin Up 2015-16 Annual Catalogue, uses the large butterfly die from the "Bold Butterfly" framelits set.

This simple card uses "Shimmery White" for the base, the square and to stamp the butterfly on. This gives a bit of elegance and sparkle to a special occasion card. A little extra bling has been added to the card with a run of jewels down the centre of the butterfly and echoed at the bottom of the card.

Check out these sites for inspiration and see the wonderful ideas the design teams have to enhance your creativity.

Challenge card 2 for a relaxing Sunday stamping

Your Next Stamp (YNS) provided both a colour and a sketch challenge. I combined the two to make this card

I used "Floral Wings" stamp set again, which is a hostess only set from the Stampin Up 2015-16 Annual Catalogue.

The vine stamp was stamped across the background, using Versamark, to provide texture to the basecard. This card used masking, for the flowers in the vase and the vase to stamp the stems. The small flower was stamped and cut out by hand to provide the accents on the bottom right of the card.

This is a great site for inspiration that I will definitely be visiting again. Check it out yourself.

Challenge card 1 for a relaxing Sunday stamping

Today I found some new challenges to inspire me.

Sweetstampinchallengeblog - theme challenge - Anything but a birthday challenge

I wanted to use the "Floral Wings" stamp set, which is a hostess only set from the Stampin Up 2015-16 Annual Catalogue. I didn't have Peach Parfait, so I substituted Tangelo Twist.

The small flower in this set is perfect for stamping in a straight line to make a border or background.
The ribbon across the top and bottom of the background is a retired Bermuda Bay 1/8" ribbon (although for some reason in the photo it looks more blue).
The butterfly was stamped on watercolour paper, that I lightly spritzed with water before stamping and raised using dimensionals.
