This weekend's challenge cards - Part 3

My third challenge card for the weekend also has inspiration from three challenges: Pals Paper Arts, Just Us Girls, and Paper Craft Crew Challenges.

The Pals Paper Arts Challenge - PPA239 was a colour challenge:

The Just Us Girls Challenge - JUGS #280 was a trend challenge:

The Paper Craft Crew Challenge - PCCCS#131 was a sketch challenge:

I used the new Sale-A-Bration set "Lotus Blossom" for the main image, used "Gorgeous Grunge" from the 2014-15 Annual Stampin Up Catalogue to stamp the background and "Itty Bitty Banners" for the greeting. I also used Burlap ribbon from the Annual catalogue:

Check out the sites from these challenges and be inspired the creativity of the designers.

This weekend's challenge cards - Part 2

My second card was inspired by two challenges, Colour Q and CAS(E) this Sketch!.

Colour Q gave the colours Basic Black, Real Red and Newsprint:

CAS(E) this Sketch! gave a lovely simple design to use:

I recently got the new Sheltering Tree stamp set from the 2015 Stampin Up Occasions Catalogue which seemed perfect for this pair of challenges:

I always feel inspired by the samples from both of these design teams.

This weekend's challenge cards - Part 1

This afternoon I took some me time in my craft studio to design using some of the great challenges for this week.

This card used the colour combination from The Card Concept, the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the technique from The Paper Plunge.

For The Card Concept challenge, I chose the Stampin Up colours of Pink Pirouette, Crisp Cantaloupe, Smoky Slate and Soft Suede, in the Clean and Simple Style:

For the sketch From Freshly Made Sketches, I chose to make each panel in the sketch a separate layer:

For the Emboss It! technique from The Paper Plunge I chose to use the Stampin Up Print Poetry embossing folder.

The main stamp on the card is Sweetbriar Rose, the background is stamped with Gorgeous Grunge in Pink Pirouette, Crisp Cantaloupe and Soft Suede. The greeting is from the And Many More set.

Check out the cards made by other participants in the challenge, and of course the talented designers.

Lotus Blossom Workshop - February 2015

Sale-A-Bration started on 6 January 2015. One of the Stamp sets you can get for free for every $90 you spend on product is the Lotus Blossom set. This set is a 3 step photopolymer stamp set and very easy to use.

This months workshop is based on this new set. Instructions will be posted next week, after the class.

One more Butterfly basics card

The Butterflies Thinlits from the new Stampin' Up 2015 Occasions catalogue can also be used as a mask to make a background for a card.

I cut 3 butterflies out of scrap card and used 2-way on the back, leaving it to dry before using so that it would be re-positionable. After laying the butterflies on the whisper white card, I sponged crumb cake ink over the background, over and around the butterflies.

Other variations on this technique include using diluted ink in a spritzer, flick ink from a toothbrush, or dab the inkpad directly onto the card. You can alter patterned paper using this technique as well, newspaper print DSP is perfect for this.
